JOURNEY BAHG
Review - First Time Visit to this Caribbean Country
I’ve traveled many places! Travel is just what I do! This year I finally traveled to a place I had been trying to get to for a while. Checkout the blog!
Location:
It’s a Caribbean country, that is an island in the West Indies.
Climate:
Humid and tropical. Dry season from January to May. Rainy season from June to December.
Time Zone:
Atlantic Time Zone which is 1 hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Terrain:
A rugged interior and a coastal area. The terrain is a result of its’ volcanic origins. Consists of mountains, valleys, crater lakes, coastal plains and mangroves.
Airport:
Maurice Bishop International Airport is a smaller airport. Don’t look to have a meal or do some heavy shopping in this airport as you will be disappointed.
On the brighter side, since it is a smaller airport you don’t have to deal with the hustle and bustle found at larger airports. From where I reside (near the Washington, DC area) getting to this country can be tricky. This was one of the reasons I had not visited prior to now.
I reluctantly flew American Airlines from Reagan Natiional Airport to Miami then from Miami to this beautiful country. This route was the quickest with the shortest layovers. While these two airports are my least favorite it was a sacrifice I was willing to make to get to the country.
Lodging:
Six Senses La Sagesse, a beautiful new resort that recently opened in April 2024.
Resort Highlights:
- New resort
- A focus on wellness
- Smaller resort
- 56 pool suites, 15 villas
- All suites and villas have some sort of water view (lagoon, bay, ocean)
- All suites and villas have a separate shower and tub
- Golf cart transportation is provided for movement throughout the resort
- Rooms contain mini bars that are fuly stocked with local beverages (with no artificial ingredients) and homemade snacks
- Several dining choices
- Farm-to-table all day dining restaurant
- Seafood restaurant
- Pool bar and grill
- In room dining
- Sustainability is a key concept throughout the resort
- Very little if any use of plastics or materials that cannot be recycled
- Lots of activities (for both adults and kids)
- Two pools, aside from the private pools each suite and/or villa has
- Spa
- Cultural experiences (onsite and off site) that can be arranged by staff at the resort upon request
- Kids areas/programs
Transportation:
The resort offers a variety of transportation options depending on the guests needs. I found the transportation to be very reasonable in price, very reliable, safe and the vehicles were clean. The drivers were very professional. You can book your transporation ahead of time and I would highly suggest guest take advantage of this option. Keep in mind that if you are interested in renting a car and exporing on your own, locals drive on the left side of the road!
Final Thoughts:
I’ve traveled to many places in the Caribbean, but this was the most amazing trip thus far. The atmosphere here is unlike any other Caribbean country that I have visited. I most certainly will return for additional visits. The resort was amazing as well. This was my first experience at a Six Seneses resort and I will most definitely check out other Six Senses resorts for future travel. Whether you have a bucket list or not this is a country and resort you want to visit.
YouTube video coming soon with trip highlights (via photos and video)! In the video I will go into more detail about the trip. Will update this post with the link to my channel once posted (or you can click on the icon below).
